Camera Obscura - Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken

As is the case quite often, we don't get the first few albums from artists on the international scene. As is the case, I discovered Camera Obscura in 2006, and Let's Get Out of This Country, and this was their third CD. Brit Pop is perfectly healthy. The problem is, the highly promoted Brit Pop artists in North America are mostly from the cookie cutter reality show flavour. Usually, in a music store, I'll take a glancing look at the top sellers display in case something catches my eye. Then I'll move to the new releases, and finally, the listening stands. If nothing appeals to me, I'll pick up four or five CDs that seem intriguing for different reasons, or those of which I have read a review, and head straight for the information desk or listening stations. Many nice discoveries..... such as Camera Obscura.

It annoys me to no ends when I hear people say, "There is no good music anymore." It's just that we don't get to hear it. There is not much fostering of new acts, building them up. Everybody wants to hear the new song promoted on the new iPod commercial. Hit and miss I tell you! Proof of that is the fast growing indie record business. Camera Obscura's CD Let's Get Out of This Country was voted number four album of the 2000-20109 decade by indie magazine Under the Radar.
